200HR Yoga Teacher Training

In the summer of 2018, I decided I want to go through yoga teacher training. After researching all of the studios in Orange & San Diego County, I chose i Heart Yoga for my 200HR RYT Training.

Among factors like cost, an included retreat to Mexico, and unlimited yoga classes at the studio, the one thing that sealed the deal was the backgrounds of the two instructors leading the training, Bree and Elsa. I immediately felt a connection with the two of their stories and took the leap.

My partner and I found a place to live in Dana Point, and dove into the community head first, where we were welcomed with open arms.

Elsa (the owner) and Bree (a co-founder and teacher) led me and 9 other girls through our intimate training program. The training was fun, challenging, transformative, and prepared me well to begin my own teaching practice. We had fun excursions including Kundalini yoga, Ayurveda, anatomy, etc.

These two months were the most transformative months of my life. I learned more about myself in that short time-frame than I had ever even considered possible. Graduating from training in November, I left confident and ready to teach my own classes.

And if you’re not considering a yoga teacher training, that’s okay!

Studio & Park Yoga Classes

What I love about i Heart is that they have classes for everyone.

Yoga classes are taught in their studio that overlooks the harbor, and in the park with sweeping views of the ocean.

The studio offers a variety of classes like gentle flow, vinyasa flow, warm vinyasa flow, restorative, sculpt, barre, meditation, sound therapy, hathalini, and yin. And in the park you can expect a vinyasa flow with variations suitable for all ages.

What I love about this studio is the community around it. In fact, that’s how it started, community classes in the park. Most people are friendly and open to a conversation if you start one. So don’t be shy!

If you’re considering a yoga teacher training or just stopping in for a yoga class, you will not be disappointed. Hands down the best community and studio I’ve been to in California. Keep it up iHeartYoga!

About the Owner

Elsa Stuart founded I Heart Yoga in the Park in 2008 with just a few friends on a Tuesday morning, and now is so blessed and amazed to see how big and beautiful these classes have grown.

What started as a hobby, has not only grown into a HUGE weekly community event in the park, but now a brick and mortar studio, with retreats, events, and so much more!

“Teaching at iHeartYoga is the highlight of my whole week! Every time I teach, I feel like I am in the middle of a huge group hug, that’s the best way I can describe it!”

Her class is a power vinyasa flow, that will get you moving and sweating. Elsa’s fun and energetic personality is infectious, and will leave you smiling from ear to ear.

Pros

  • Choose from studio or outdoor park with a beautiful view
  • $89/month unlimited classes for studio
  • Donation based (I recommend $8)
  • % of donations go to a local orphanage
  • Dozens of teachers to choose from
  • Workshops open to the community for an extra fee
  • Open and friendly community
  • Small touches that make the experience great (essential oils, incense, etc.)

Cons

  • Parking can be a bit tricky on busy weekends
  • Because the park classes are now so popular, it can become hard to hear the instructor at times
